Gateway
sebkhet
Both plan and elevation views are used in this composite or "twisted" view of a gateway. The battlements on top of the walls represent rows of the kheker sign meaning decoration or ornament. These distinguish the hieroglyph from the reed shelter symbol that had exactly the same shape in plan view. Gateways were highly symbolic, representing thresholds as well as barriers. sebkhet - Gateway
Gold
nebu
The sign depicts a collar or nebyt of the precious metal and is differentiated from other collar signs by the beads radiating from the lower portion and by the hanging ends of the collar. Gold was treated as a divine substance naturally related to the sun. nebu - Gold
